Can everyone agree now that USA is a banana republic
Trying to decide between two entry level offers. One is at IBM as a technical sales engineer and the other is at MasterCard as a Associate Product Specialist. The IBM role would prevent me from being pigeon hold in a product role and experience something different. My thinking was that I could transition from TSE to a PM role after one year as there's a lot of transferrable skills and I would get good customer facing experience. Does anyone know if this is a common route to take? It also pays a lot more. Do most people reach their targets for sales incentives? On the other hand, the APS role at MasterCard would help me to break into product management which is where I want to eventually be. I could transfer into a PM role in big tech after a year or so. IBM TC (Chicago) : 94k base salary + 40k target commission + 7k signing bonus + 5k relocation = 145k MasterCard TC (New York) : 90k base salary + 7.5k signing bonus = 97.5k #entrylevel #pm #product #productmanager #salesengineer #mastercard #ibm #techsales
