My verbal offer got rescinded when they did layoffs and then got un-rescinded a week after, then it got rescinded again. Recruiter has no idea why it was rescinded a second time, just said that the higher ups told him so. Hiring manager also has no clue. I am very annoyed to get jerked around like this. Lots of other problems in the recruiting process too like the salary and level of the role kept changing. Anyone have any relevant info on what's going on here?
Stay at Meta
Why not, stable payment platform at scale
I have a hate relationship with my manager, I will probably get PIP at PSC. I do not like Stripe that much but my other 2 leads got hiring freeze right after onsite.
It’s garbage. Don’t join for your own sake anyway
Why do you say garbage?
Everyone knows stripe is a shitshow place. Worse than amazon.
The situation sucks. But better they figure their sh!t out before you quit than after. Ultimately it boils down to … a verbal offer is not an offer. Likely need to shift to defensive posture - Get the offer in hand, then negotiate. When headcount gets pulled it’s only the extended offers that count. You might think it weakens your bargaining power, but some managers will cave as else they lose their req all together.
Did the recruiter laugh each time and say sike?
That's called Chinese checkers 🤪
Did the same comp / leveling nonsense to me. Ended up declining after they tried to convince me they had easy 10x upside bc their internal share price was $30 and Square was trading near $300 (valuations were both about $100b at the time, but I guess they were just hoping I didn't understand basic finance...). They obvi started hot as could be but they're meh now but still acting like they're the shit.
Im wondering did you call them out with the valuation? Asking because revruiters like to talk nonsense but you dont want to sound rude in negotiations.
You made the right call imho and the preipo share price is worth zero just to be clear so net net square share price >> 0
Don’t leave meta for here. Would not recommend due to how company is being run and also because stock comp is of uncertain value with unknown liquidity date. You dodged a bullet. I would recommend staying until your 1yr then change teams first.
What's the offer?
Metamate, you will land somewhere fine.
