Entertaining an offer at Shippo and I was hoping to get some unfiltered comments on others' experience working for the company. I've looked at reviews on Glassdoor and here and they seem mostly positive and generally boil down to the following: Pros: • Good colleagues. • Relaxed company culture. • Career Growth Opportunities • Lots of different projects and work, opportunities to learn. • Good growth trajectory. • Modern technology stack. Cons: • Technical Debt • Growing pains. • WLB can be tough. (During peak shipping seasons) • Lots of meetings • Lack of trust in leadership. • Projects change frequently. My main concerns is WLB. Is working on the weekends typical? What about daily hours? Is there on-call? The recruiter mentioned that there isn't a set annual bonus target. Offer: Base: $161.5k, Sign-On: $0, Stock Options: 4500/4 (Strike Price: $13, @ $36), Fully remote in very LCOL.
I have a friend who used to work at Shippo, He says "never worked a weekend in my life in a year or so. work 6-8 hour days, very chill WL balance. on-call happens for some backend teams and QA, nothing really breaks too much to where there is multiple people on call. usually for important stuff, like my team only had it once or twice. didnt get a bonus this year. dont know if we have any.
How long did you have to wait to get the offer after the onsite?
Is it for data engineer ?

Is working on the weekends typical? - No What about daily hours? - Normal amount of hours. Respectful of your time zone Is there on-call? - Depends on the team. There is a rotation if there is. The recruiter mentioned that there isn't a set annual bonus target. - Not sure about bonus but I’ve noticed there is a lot of career advancement within the company. WLB feels pretty good for a startup. They recently announced a week of company shutdown in July in addition to the week in December, holidays and unlimited PTO.
How was the interview process?
Did you end up joining Shippo?
