Nanny/Babysitter I Austin Texas

We've moved to Austin Texas recently and we are looking for a nanny for our kid. I keep looking at care.com and the rates are so high. I wonder if anyone here has experience in finding a full-time nanny in Austin for a reasonable price? If so from where? Any help is appreciated 🙏

Sorry buddy, $15-20/hr is standard now in any place worth living - even in Texas. I paid $15/hr plus 80hr PTO and every Holiday PTO or weather emergency or any time we were gone, effectively making it a $18-20/hr job with one kid and then we had a different Nanny with two (original was older and could only handle one infant at a time) who was same benefits and $20/hr consistent rate. The truth is that many Nannies, even experienced ones, are not as reliable as what you need until you are paying $30-40/hr in Austin,TX for someone with degrees and experience. Maybe have a Nanny for the first 6-9mo of the kiddos life and spend that time finding a good childcare place when you feel comfortable with them being with other children or out of the house. Oh, and remember you have to register as a business and pay taxes for that, so add another couple dollars an hour in expense for taxes for cost calculations.

How much are you willing to pay per month or per hour?

I used to pay 450/week in WV. Buy I'm willing to pay 500-550/Week here.

Yup, that's what it works out to these days. My pay was in these markets 3-4y ago and COL in Austin has gone up 30% in that time.

$20/hr is about $40k a year. That’s not a lot of money. Do you want the person that watch your child to live in poverty? If you can’t afford a nanny, use a daycare.
