So one of the friends found his girlfriend through Quora. She used to follow him on Quora; she texted him first on Quora, (it was her first move..) and they decided to meet. After a few months of dating, they got married. (Dude is a good-looking IIT K and IIM A alumni.) He always says that social media has positively affected his life. FYI - He was in Delhi and she was in Mumbai and the love flourished over time through Quora messages and then meet up. The girl has no engineering background, she did normal bachelors. When we asked our friend, he responded - Her personal messages on Quora were so sweet and she is extremely cute 🥰 so no tc and no bla bla I just gave an example of a relationship, but it can be damn anything. I personally changed my perception because my that friend encouraged me to use social media more, before that I didn’t use a lot compared to others. Did it affect your life positively? Or No? Just curious 🧐
I troll my fellow people and laugh
Someone leaked layoffs in the company channel. Company had not announced it yet. Motivated me to engage some of the recruiters that were getting at me. I didn’t get laid off, but I was still there, with new offer letter in hand, the day of the layoffs hoping for severance. Left and took 50% raise.
Helped prep for interviews better, got referrals, got some good career advice ( and some trolling of course)
I learned a lot about Indian culture - good and bad.
Yes, positively. Learned about finance, what’s possible as a SWE, about stack ranking and PIP, how tech work is affecting a lot of people’s mental health, etc.
It keeps me well informed about the market, it's ok for the price of having to deal with a bunch of dumb people
I joined blind when it was quite new. I was happy at my low paying job back then enjoying some workplace perks. However after I joined blind i realized how underpaid I was. Started leetcoding, got decent offers and blind helped with salary negotiation. I always check reviews of a company before i apply for it.
