Be wary of Trilogy or 2U bootcamp gigs

These are usually affiliated with big name colleges and try to recruit people in the industry to teach their stuff. Curriculum is handled by the company, the business model is basically “pay $15k, get a piece of paper with a university seal on it that certifies you know about programming” Well some things that happened to me during a gig I took: - They did not issue parking tags until 3 months in. Refused to reimburse parking for that period, which ran 1/3 of the pay per evening. - They made a point of making sure everyone “graduated”, no matter what. - I was yelled at by the head instructor during class about “muh authoritah” for going out of my way to catch plagiarism - Once I caught a circle of like 5 people looking up solutions and sharing them. One of them called me a “24 year old boy scout” and dropped out. Which led me to change my Slack pfp to a boy scout… - The head instructor seemed very annoyed with me during this whole ordeal, especially the part I threatened to contact the school directly if he did not look into it. - They did not renew my contract. Probably because they saw academic integrity as a threat to their money printing machine. - Also tried to stiff me on my finishing bonus until I made a point of how small claims would make them pay me 3x. - Bonus: another instructor was trying to befriend me and when I mentioned I like reading stuff on philosophy, started raving about Jordan Peterson Devang, Sarah, if this somehow finds you: fuck you.
