I really felt like I should, but glad I did not. Currently an SDE2, was thinking about putting Sr. Software Engineer or telling my recruiter that I am SDE3. Glad I did not. The background check from HireRight came, it mentioned SDE II. Phew. Not sure if it would have made any difference. Sage advice is to not disclose this info while interviewing at all if you can. But when pressed if you don't, it's a giveaway. Happy switching folks. TC: 238k YOE: 6
Can’t you put Sr SDE on your resume and then on the HireRight put SDE2? As far as I know, hireRight doesn’t check info from your resume, only from what you enter to HIreRight
Correct. I just passed my Hireright BG check and had different job titles from my resume. Recruiters only check BG check if red flags come back
willytechy guy knows how to hack hireright
Just don't lie, it doesn't have to be more specific than this.
Ehhh wrong.
I agree databricks
What trash is this ? You can always tell the recruiter to interview for whatever level you want to interview for by claiming that you are close to a promo. Recruiters only care about YOE. Your level is entirely determined by your interview performance and not by your current level.
Depends on company actually. And you can be down leveled based on your resume
I actually did this. I legitimately was talking to my manager about SDE3 promo when I interviewed at Amazon so I just said "were writing my promo doc right now"
you dont need to lie about it, you just need to say that you are going to interview only for SDE3 roles.
agree
What if you say you got 7 YOE & they say you need 10-15+?
You’re not obligated to tell them your level
They are no obligated to consider you for any level
So if I’m a Sr. PM right now, but when I started in my role I was a PM 2, on my resume will it be a problem if I only list my current title? Or should I list both with the dates for both?
If at the same company, use the last title you had at that company. They normally only report start/end and last title.
Awesome thanks
Hireright ain't a joke. I had the same experience.. no Stone unturned.
Also the sky is blue
Except idk what to write since Expedia is weird and classifies SDE 2 role but it’s really SDE 1 responsibilities
Yeah yeah, that's a good point. I'm an SDE 61. I would write SDE 2 in your case, and then if you interview and they downlevel, fair play but honesty is key.
they do not have any method to verify level for current job
Sometimes official titles give it away. Like a Sr SDE or SDE 3 in Amazon will be 6 and SDE 2 will be 5. I believe that’s what the OP meant.
That’s not true many times official HR job titles give away the level.
