How is self driving/robotics to work on as an engineer?
Hi! I work as a backend swe, but very interested almost starry eyed about working on self driving and robotics applications. Self driving is cool but few years away. I would be shocked if we don't see more mainstream robotics applications like Roomba, but that's like me being naive as well :) How do you guys feel about this industry? Thoughts from insiders or friends who work on such problems?
Former robotics engineer from semiconductor industry, there is a reason I am former, the whole industry collapsed and now do more maintenance and repair business than new sales.
Self driving might never pan out, but you will learn a ton in the process.
