The real question is why does anybody care about these round numbers? They're ultimately meaningless. And the Dow is really meaningless because it arbitrarily weighs stocks with high price per share more than others. It's a completely useless index that only exists because the clueless media insists on breathless reporting about it. and using it as a fake barometer of the general stock market.
