I don’t think you’ll be able to get into pro level whether you were good or average. To get to pros you have to be training non stop since childhood. It’s not easy.
Check out the number of kids that graduate their colleges with an athletic scholarship having played for the school and then check the number that make it to the pros. Now compare that with the tech side where every Tom, dick, Harry and Rajesh have a cs job. Also check out what the minor leagues of these sports pay.
