I have a phone interview with Xilinx and any help pointers for the FPGA Design interview is really appreciated
Xilinx interview should be a piece of cake
Any inputs or pointers? How is the format ?
Which group u interviewing with ?
Look up Deephi, the company they bought for ML FPGA design. My opinion is that it is not a good time to join, as they can outsource your job once the infrastructure is built. They already have teams working on this in China...
Look up how inferencing works on FPGAs vs GPUs. They want someone who knows the differences. I don't think your TC will be very high compared to NVIDIA or other ML companies though. X does not generally pay as well as Apple. I would temper expectations a bit.
NVIDIA pay is comparable to Xilinx; it all depends on how badly they want you
Interesting.....I know someone at nvidia who was making 250k TC with a 200k salary for a mid-level role (no reports). You can see the h1b filings at X and I haven't seen salaries close to that.
This is an emerging space for them and the interviewer will want you to mention experience with convolutional neural networks, training models, and inferencing. Again tho - don't expect a salary offer that reflects this skillset or knowledge base.
I am more comfortable with fpga but no background for ML
Just read up on this stuff. Even if you don't know it, at least research what they are trying to do and the company they acquired.
Agreed!! Really appreciate your inputs!
I do not know your story but why leave Apple for a lower tier company that is likely to only give you half the pay?
Just taking interviews so that I don’t get rusty Also if they can match the pay then no harm trying out new things We don’t know unless we get an offer
OP, work life balance for that role is messed up. You will have a worse time than at Apple. Your TC will also be lower. Xilinx is testing the waters in this area and don’t have an established team. You will be worked to near death. Avoid.
Damn!! I thought it will be less stressful as compared to apple
Location?
