Got hit up by snap recruiter for swe position. Can someone from snap tell me what an L5 swe role entails from a high level perspective? I forgot to ask the recruiter this question. What kind of questions should I expect from the interview? Leet code medium or hard ? Graph questions ? Thank you in advance. Tc: 250k
Only LC hard.
Really? Good to know. Did you have an interview there or used to be an employee? If you had an interview is that advice for screens or onsite ?
Onsite
Between 5 and 6 on the standard G/F reference scale. Think tech lead of a small team or an expert in a narrow niche. L5 onsite loop will have 2-3 coding, 1-2 system design, and 1 q&a. Q&A round is not scored. Coding questions can vary a lot. Even though there is an internal question bank, its usage is not enforced. System design is pretty standard. There is no single behavioral interview. Instead, each round will have a behavioral "values" question in the beginning. Look up Amazon leadership principles, they're pretty similar to what we use. Behavioral and system design will be the primary leveling signals, although coding can affect it too. Good luck ✌️
What is the G/F scale ?
Google/Facebook See levels.fyi
L5 salary will be 550k, congrats!
Thanks.. but I still gotta pass the interview lol
My L4 TC is tracking to be $500K in 2024 this year due to stock price. So you never know what can happen 😎
You can expect a LC Hard
Senior eng. One level below staff
Thanks. What's the overall role difference between sr and staff ? I assume staff is less coding and more documentation?
No difference in general. >= 5 is similar in snap. But scope decides your level almost.
