I joined Discovery couple of months back. What talk is going on at WarnerMedia/ HBOMax regarding merger and what are your thoughts? #warnerbros #hbo #Discovery
It has been indicated that there might be engineering layoffs as only one tech stack is going to survive. What's the information floating inside discovery +?
Same thoughts, but its still difficult to figure out who is replacing? If they are moving to Discovery+ or HBOMax.
May be it wouldn't be an either or situation. They might try to merge as many engineers as possible into one of the platforms.
How's discovery culture and benefits?
Like it. Relaxed and benefits are pretty good.
Are ppl nice and friendly ?
Internal convos around what an integrated tech stack and data would look like. No conversations until the deal closes and at least a year after that for this all to be scoped out. Focus right now is more on the impact between AT&T/WM.
From October they were asking employees to come 3 days a week to NY office, but it depends on the team and manager. CEO wants everyone to work from office as he likes that way. Every week they are finding 1 or 2 positive cases in office and telling everyone we have cleaned premises and is open for work.
This is quite a ways out and there’s a ton of work to be done for global expansions of Discovery+ But content is King so I would bundle the services if I were running the show. I love the Disney+ bundle.
What’s the WFH situation at Discovery? In WM/ATT it’s flexible. Will the CEO force everyone to come back in eventually?
