Blind is an antisemitic cesspool
At least as per Google and Microsoft earnings call yesterday (Jul 26). Microsoft said they are waiting for a few acquisitions to settle and close - Nuance, Xandr and now Activision. So there is already increased incoming headcount due to these 3 acquisitions. Google said something similar, increased headcount in Q3 due to Mandiant acquisition closing. They also said 11,000 new people have accepted offers and will be joining in Q3 already, but not sure if this number includes Mandiant or not. TC 240K
OP are you saying that MSFT hiring freeze will be there until FY23 Q3 ?
OK I'm not 100% sure since Nuance acquisition closed few months ago, Xandr *just* closed a few weeks ago, and Activision is expected to close this quarter. But I know these 3 were mentioned in earnings call as causing increased headcount. My suspicion is since 2 out of the 3 acquisitions are already closed, things are a bit more predictable and positions could open up after the Activision close date is confirmed. Again, all speculation on my part.

They’re just sugarcoating the hiring freeze. Layoffs associated with acquisitions are planned before hand. They can ofc always go deeper.
We're already in Q3
Yes freeze will continue and we’d be lucky if no layoff. Most likely all big techs er will be miss and Q3/4 will be about cost cutting.
