I had my phone screening with Meta and had 2 coding questions that they asked me to solve within 40 mins. I did both questions pretty decently with good intuition, test cases, edge cases and dry runs. Completed the coding with the optimal solution for both within 40 mins and gave the right complexity analysis. But on the 2nd question I missed adding a condition to an if block. I think the interviewer didn’t notice that either, otherwise he would’ve hinted on it. Problem solving using optimal approach was demonstrated well by me. This miss in if condition was more of an overlook than a logical/algorithm problem. After the interview I ran the code by including the if condition and it ran flawlessly. Will this be counted against me? P.S: there was no ability to execute the code during the interview. Even a basic test case execution could’ve helped catch the minor error. #engineering #software #swe #interview #meta
It's a pass but it takes 2-3 days. Don't be anxious
Might be counted against you, but still sounds like a pass as long as you had good communication skills
FWIW I thought I failed my E6 phone screen but got an approval email like 2 hrs after the interview.
That’s comforting. It’s been a little over 24 hours for me and still haven’t heard back.
I got space complexity wrong for my IC6 phone screen and still passed through to full loop. They say coding screens are weighted less for IC6. You’re probably fine from a code standpoint. Did they not ask you behavioral questions?
None. The interviewer didn’t even ask me to introduce myself. He introduced himself, gave a gist on what team he’s with and jumped straight into the first coding question. In fact the 2nd question is not even found in LC. It’s on GFG though.
Gfg?
For E6, also code style is important (readable and maintainable). Hopefully you didn't put all the logic into one function...
I usually decouple functions into reusable / readable parts, but this was a kind of question that really did not require more than 1 function. The entire code was only about 30 lines. Mine was much shorter and readable than the solution provided in GFG (like I mentioned earlier this 2nd question is not on LC)
just wait like a day they're pretty fast
