Hi All, I'm in the loop with GoCardless and expected to give the technical, coding and cultural fit round interviews soon. Just wanted to know what would be the type of questions being asked if anyone has experience with them. Hiya 👋🏾 I am in the gocardless loop as well. Do you mind connecting?
can I connect with you, I have GoCardless interview scheduled next week
Nope I did not clear the interview. I was not confident with the system design however was very confident with the programming round. But then, the feedback that they shared was very different from what had happened. They big point that I received was that I did not go into detail (which they never asked me to). As a candidate it’s unsure for us what detail the panel needs unless they say what they want. I felt the whole process to be a total waste of time.
My experience was similar. I do not like the engineers at Gocardless..

Where can I get best chai (tea) in Bay Area?
Behavioral is standard. The System Design for me started with going through some small code and identifying issues or explaining what it does, then regular system design discussion. Coding they will send you a PDF and you need to implement the script. Just focus on doing it fast, and pick a language that doesn’t have a lot of boilerplate.
Oh ok. Can you please tell me what the PDF has ? What kind of question would be that ? Leetcode style? Cos they’ve been asking to setup the environment for testing and stuff. Also for SD, what was the code like ? Is it like debugging the code ? Not able to relate how they start from small code to system design.
Don’t remember the details, but you needed to do a simple script, like call a webservice, do some math and save it on a csv. For the system design, I don’t remember but it was just a piece of code on a pdf or screen sharing, you won’t debug it. Then you do a normal system design. It’s been quite a few months since I did it, so maybe they changed it.
