Hello, I’m currently interviewing for an MD role at JP Morgan on the Operations team in NYC. I’d love to get some candid feedback about the culture at JPM. What do you like? Dislike? Firing/performance culture, etc.. Thanks! Current TC: $400k #interview #culture
Dang even compared to the Amazon pip fears 👀
What role & Which LOB were you in? and what was the reason of leaving?
Worked there for 2.5years. Annually 0 bonus and 0 increment for non revenue generating teams. Work from office only. Annual retrenchments bottom 10% are let go to pay bonus of top performers happens from Nov period. No perks at all as compared to tech firms. E.g: No free coffee, or any form of snacks, no ergonomics desk especially many employees work 12h daily, lowest medical benefits you can think of. For Operations, whatever JPM can offer you, another firm can pay you more.
I interned at JP at the Delaware office this summer and they had free coffee/got chocolate. Only free perk they had tho
OP, Culture of JPM compared to what or which firm ?
Depends on Line of Business.
It's godfather culture! ... If you join then make sure to find a senior MD that can vouch for you. The culture used to be really good but old EDs who were culture carriers weren't promoted and new people don't know how to carry it forward. I see favoritism based on race.

Yep totally agree
Un-cool! I would say
It depends on your line of business and team. I am in data analytics within CCB and it sucks here. The raise or bonus is ~ nothing. New hired junior analysts get pay more than seniors. Managers demand quick turnaround all the time and like to micromanage. Everything is very bureaucratic, which takes forever to get ANYTHING done!
I love the company and overall top leadership message but unfortunately it never gets trickled down. Middle management culture is solely business delivery focused and there is no incentive to middle management to develop and retain individual contributor talent, identify team culture carriers, develop/mentor new leaders. Once one is in the company, there is little to no salary growth even with internal job moves, only option is to boomerang.
Wrong place for advice. You're only going to get pissed off tech folks that can't get other higher paying jobs at tech companies
Yea, I made another post and got very different responses— mostly in favor of JPM. I guess I’ll have to take this with a grain of salt 🤷🏻♀️

Mandatory in office. Enough said.
So is McDonald’s. Dream on about large tech though, we are not going back to 20th century.
They all easily provide the option not to set foot in the office to anyone who requests it.
