I recently was offered a job at fidelity investments in durham after months of looking, as I am pretty excited to start, I want to make sure I don't mess up the background check, as my recruiter said something like points will be docked for various reasons, will it look bad if I was PIPED from Amazon and received a severance, also a follow up to this, I may have listed a role I did as a data engineer when I was a data scientist on my resume, but made sure to put the correct role on the background check would they knock points off for this as well? #tech #fidelity
You'll be fine, Amazon only discloses the dates you worked for them and the position. They don't state what was the separation reason (PIPed, layoffs, etc) I don't think the data scientist vs data engineer thing may affect either
No U.S. company is so naive to disclose PIP. For cause firing is different but layoff or performance related firing is never going to be disclosed. I’m unsure what happens if fired for cause like theft or fraud.
You will be fine. Just make sure you are accurate in the background check form. They don’t care about PIP, they already want you. They are checking to see if you are not a criminal, will not do any fraud, and not a liar. Congrats and Best of luck!
You don’t need to disclose pip and severance. Amazon won’t and is legally not allowed to say more than you worked here from x to y and this was your job title. For title just call yourself data scientist/ data engineer
