Flunked a phone interview. Just got a rejection email today - it was nothing like standard technical phone round. No LCs. They asked a bunch of domain-specific questions related to networking like mutual TLS handshake, Classless Inter-Domain Routing, etc. In the previous round, they asked me to design a RPC to range search IP addresses stored in database. Absolutely destroyed. Any suggestions on how to brush up on these topics? Also poll tc: 180k yoe: 1
Sorry it didn’t work out this time
I notice that I get asked a lot of networking problems in yahoo. Is this like a standard interview practice at yahoo?
It depends on the position how in-depth, but yes. We expect candidates to be well rounded to weed out the people memorizing LC.
Lol yahoo?
No LCs are the best interviews as they relate to the work that you’d be doing.
Why the downgrade OP? Ate you masochist?
Care to share the reason to leave Amazon after only one year?
Also, any particular reason that you want to work for Yahoo! ?
🤗
I just wanted to leave Amazon
Networking/Linux - professor messer (YouTube) Linux/security - overthewire wargames I actually enjoy overthewire immensely over LC, but as far as money goes sde will pay far more than network/infra/sec typically Also look at homelab / raspberry pi etc and do network type projects. It's really fun
How can network be any fun? serious question ...
My yahoo interviewer in 2016 asked for my GPA for a new grad position, and said he wasn't moving forward since it was below 3.5
Yahoo was my first interview out of college and they asked me a bunch of trivia questions about table spacing vs padding. If I'd had more experience, I would have told them what I was thinking: would take me a few seconds to Yahoo (or Bing back then) search this question. Knowing a bunch of theory you don't actually use and could brush up on instantly is hogwash. Also, Yahoo is seriously dead, why do you want to work for a zombie?
And look at you now! 😂
Maybe he’s doing great in life?
