Years of experience
When developers say they have X years of experience, do they include college? All professional software experience? Or just relevant experience? Or would it be something in the middle to account for general software acumen - for example 6 years of professional robotics experience isn't exactly transferable to a cloud based SaaS company so maybe mid level would be more realistic?
My manager just asked me to tell them my years of experience for a co-workers Visa or green card thing. Not sure how that works, but she told me to count my part time (30hr/week) work during college as full time. And she said to count my year as a TPM even though all my other experience is as an SDE
Yea that’s a different situation. USCIS even accepts college TA experience as amount of time worked.
