Yelp London offer, IC3

Recruiter told me it's a higher-end IC3 leveling, but compensation doesn't sound that good. 95k GBP base, 150k USD RSU, 10k GBP sign-in, 5k GBP relocation bonus, 7.5% target performance cash bonus. This brings the TC for the first year to be ~131.5k GBP + ~3.5k GBP if I count 7.5% cash bonus for a half of year. I don't count 5k GBP of relocation bonus here (as they don't pay additionally for flights/accommodation). So totally 135k GBP, which roughly translates into 156k EUR. Without sign-in it would be just 125k GBP or ~144k EUR. I'm Senior at Booking.com with 10+ YoE with possibility to promote to Lead in spring (same career level and mostly same comp but shift in responsibilities, and basically the only path to Principal, which I can potentially get in few years). I also like the work I'm doing. As the result of comp eval this week in Booking.com i got following: - 110k EUR base - 37k EUR cash bonus (target bonus is 20% but I worked hard and highly exceeded expectations from my role) - 60k USD RSU refresher (in previous years it was 48k, vesting period is 3 years) This brings my current TC to ~190k EUR. But I will lose my 30% ruling soon, so from the tax perspective UK will be better than the Netherlands, though not sure it justifies difference in TC. One ruling ends, from 110k EUR base I'll get 64.5k net, bonuses are taxed on 51.75% rate, so from cash bonus and RSUs I'll get ~38.5k. This results into ~103k EUR net. From UK salary I'd get ~87k GBP (but I don't know exactly how RSUs and cash bonuses are taxed), which equals to approx. 100.5k EUR. Booking is also contributing on its own to my pension scheme ~200 EUR per month, while Yelp just does matching. I also own an apartment in the Netherlands, I paid out 2/3s of the mortgage. I'm also a 3rd world country citizen, but don't want to give up my citizenship (UK has dual citizenship, that's nice). I also don't like Dutch people/culture much. So few questions regarding Yelp: - what is the room for negotiation? - recruiter said the offer is valid for one week. I still have "onsite" with Bloomberg, it's not yet scheduled, probably will be next week or week after. How much can they really wait for accepting the offer? - how much RSU refreshers do you get every year on average? - how is WLB? Especially considering a lot of collaboration with San Francisco. Currently I work 10 to 6, would love to keep it this way. #yelp #london #offer

It's a pretty good offer. RSUs can probably go up. Base is high already. Congrats!

What's the TC range (breakup if possible) for IC2 at Yelp London? In process with them so wanted to get an idea. Also what's the minimum yoe for external hires to come in as IC3?

Yelp B.Obama Feb 20, 2021

Don't have numbers for IC2 London. I have seen people with 4-5 also coming in as IC2. What's your Yoe?

Yelp B.Obama Feb 19, 2021

Refreshes are $100k+.

Walmart CiSf32 Feb 25, 2021

You mean to say refreshers after first year are 100K that vest over the four years? 25k per year?

Yes

Why don't you try Facebook London? Their L5 offer is 101k base + 10% bonus + at least 250k stock (heard as high as 400k). I'm a core dev in Booking.com and got an L5 offer from them, if you are a senior who highly exceeds, it should be easy for you, unless you are particularly bad at interviewing.

What's L4 level TC at Booking? I am planning to interview.

Booking.com hdthvfeh Feb 19, 2021

~€85k base (can go up to ~90k), 15% target bonus, $20k yearly refresher that vests over 3 years.

Wlb is good and prob not gonna change. The pay is not going to be good.

Booking.com EvKc45 Feb 22, 2021

What do you mean "is not going to be good"? What's in general your feel of the company? Will it be able to survive and pivot?

Bloomberg raDr16 Feb 24, 2021

From my experience it is unlikely Bloomberg will make an appealing offer so I wouldn't decline the Yelp offer in hopes of getting more from BB. (Of course I may be wrong but I haven't heard many people being over 140K GBP TC (115 base + 25 bonus) in London and there are no RSU)
