Is it better to focus on health or focus on $$$? Why Cant we pick an option that has benefit of comfort as well as pay - especially if the risks (negative outcomes) of working or staying at home With disability are the same ?
It really depends. If you're just not thrilled about work but the benefits of the extra comp are good, you should arguably stay. If toxic = nearing mental breakdown or burnout, you should consider taking time off (could get a psychiatrist to give you medical leave) or finding another job. What exactly is going on?
Boss is trying to engineer exit in collaboration with HR - no documentation yet as previous performance reviews are stellar - need to get ahead of the game and make a preemptive defensive move
Ah. Yeah, that sounds pretty bad and I'm sorry you're going through that. Not knowing anything about Dell work culture, do you have any leverage on your boss—e.g., getting corroborating evidence from others against your boss for harassment, bullying, or other violations? Do you feel the attempt to push you out is legitimate or would it be possible to make a case for yourself? I was in the exact same situation in a prior job. In that case, I was able to step around my boss to talk to my skip since I knew all my manager's other reports were also miserable. I was able to successfully lobby the skip for a review of my manager's behavior and they were ultimately pushed out since all their reports were on the brink of quitting. Good luck and hang in there! Don't take it personally either. Shitty bosses unfortunately aren't in a supply crisis.
420tc at dell?
Yes - senior director
Ahhhh.
I think OP is not talking about a short-term problem iiuc. Yes, leave of absence (medical leave or otherwise) might help with short-term stress and, who knows, maybe help OP come to a better view on the work situation that lets them cope. But barring that small possibility, the decision is ultimately still the same: stay or leave.
Quit now; the other options involve nonsense that will keep you mired in dellhell one way or another. As a former senior director at Dell you should be able to work your contacts into a healthier position after the holiday break. Life is too short — prioritize your health and move on.
Thanks. But the risk of going back into the job market in this economy is causing anxiety. I’m in a highly marketable and sought after industry and domain but you never know. What I do know is the status quo is a sure no go so I might as well exercise my alternate options
Its not 420k if you dont make it till the end of the year
What's your religious affiliation?
Whatever your job is I hope it is not to design surveys
