15 years age difference, need advice! 🙏
Simply put, more TC -> more lavish lifestyle -> more time needed to get to early retirement. Blind tax: 350
That means those who have $0 TC are already retired
Not everyone is cut the same. I live way below my means and I enjoy it.
Same. Grew up in poverty so I live modestly despite >500k HH TC
Not everyone is dumb at that mate
I reduce my tc by just investing 40% of my after tax automatically. So I don’t make bigger lifestyle purchases.
This.
It sounds controversial but it is true. If you see all the retirement calculators and FIRE calculators, you'll notice that they grossly inflate the current living standards and accordingly advise a retirement amount of millions.
Man this is a stupid post
I retired under 60 on just 2M. Best feeling ever. Biggest difference between my friends and I is that I don’t need fancy restaurants, cars or vacations. Like the difference can literally be driving a civic instead of a Porsche (extend that to most things.) And is a cool car really what life is about? Is corporate America? I vacation with road trips and eat p&j sammiches while enjoying free/low cost outdoor activities in nature. Loving every free minute of it!
Shitty take. You quickly realize the pointless of lavish lifestyle and you focus on increasing your net worth, but poor people dont realize this hence they make stupid posts like this
Lol such a bad take
Have a better way to start a conversation? Or you want to read a 10 page essay GPT4 style (boring as 💩)? I definitely observed it. One gets a house and suddenly a 5m NW target becomes 10m.
It's not the length of your post that I have a problem with but rather your thesis, which is why I said it's a bad take. Earning more money doesn't have to translate into more expenses, individuals make those choices.
