Looks like YouTube is following the Instagram and tiktok model where users can’t see the number of dislikes on a video anymore. Imo this is trash because unlike Instagram and TikTok, I use it to watch a ton of tutorial videos and a large part in determining the quality of them is the like to dislike ratio. Really don’t understand this move to further remove agency from the users. Also don’t understand how this is “protecting creators from public shaming” because creators already have the option to remove the stats. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.theverge.com/platform/amp/2021/11/10/22773299/youtube-dislike-button-hide-public-count-numbers-small-creator-protection
As Trevor Noah pointed out, it doesn’t matter because the first comment will be “I dislike this video.” And then the haters will just give that comment a thumbs up.
They can still delete comments
Not only could comments be deleted, but you also have to register a channel in order to comment or to vote on comments. Voting on initial video itself doesn't require a channel.
Seems like the only thing PMs do these days is copy each other, no innovation
There was a podcast with YouTube head of product where the host asks about shorts. He babbles for a while about innovation and host asks if it is just a copy of Tiktok.
Lol … agree with Amazon.. when was the last time, G did any innovative work.. hey wait.. I remember when they created search ..,lol..
Terrible for watchers, great for big channels and corporations. Commenting, whether it’s positive or negative, still counts as engagement and will boost the video in the algorithm. And even then, those channels can censor negative comments anyway
We should all switch to alternatives like Rumble and banned video.
Im thinking probably to increase ad viewing if there is an ad is mid-video. Sometimes you gotta get halfway through to know the tutorial is shite
I'm inclined to simply downvote YouTube tutorials without watching now. Most of them are crap anyways. If your info is valuable, there's be a webpage explaining the same thing.
Agree all crap tutorials .., n crazy cringy couples sharing their night n mornin routine .. yucks !! …..,Utube is now trash tube !!
I was hoping that TikTok/Instagram would have dislikes in future as some content is really crap
I invite everyone to start reporting videos that they would've otherwise disliked
But we actually like to dislike videos! Plus, there's many great channels with a 50%/50% like/dislike ratio, and I certainly hope they aren't going away! For example, many TechLead episodes are close to 50/50; those are some of the best episodes.
We like to dislike, but we can't. The only way to hit the corporates is to somehow disable their source of income. It seems like this is the only way to bring the dislike back.
YouTube is salty we dislike spam their rewind videos
