YouTube is more profitable than Netflix. Why doesn’t Netflix create a competing product?

They are so good at video streaming and UI. I’m pretty sure they could create more superior version of YouTube. And use their current customer base and reputation to promote

YouTube is insanely expensive and hard to scale. If Netflix did try it would probably end up like Vimeo

Anyways, Amazon ads revenue 💪🏻 > YouTube Ads revenue Despite being late to the party

Google bnjbcgbbi Feb 6, 2022

Amazon ads are more like sellers fees to show up in Amazon search. It's just a different accounting

Amazon ads only work on the products owned by Amazon that folks visit - Amazon.com, kindle, echo etc. Google ads show up if a user views any site, or on Google search.

Tech wise YouTube is super difficult to build. You need the infra to store large amount of videos, search and recommendation over billions of videos, codecs to serve and process uploads, an ad framework and a lot more. On the other hand, for youtube to do netflix it will just be creating content.

The person posting this Tweet is stupid, as Youtube does in fact have a content budget. There is a such thing as Youtube originals 🙄

They just shut it down.

1) google tried to compete with Netflix. It failed. YouTube tv and YouTube premium series. 2) they are different products. Netflix is not a social media network. YouTube is on shaky ground depending on political/legal. Netflix is a much more “stable” business. Realize that YouTube also benefits from googles existing ad empire. YouTube does pay for content. It pays out creators and pays for creator spaces.
