In your previous company your manager and administration was good. They paid you well and took good care of you. They promoted you based on merit without you asking for it. Your manager was like a personal mentor to you and friendly and supportive. But your idea to start a new product line was denied in that company as manager says he wants to make existing products stable etc. but your stand was to start a new product line parallely and make more revenue for the company. You left and started a company and it became a hit. Now, if you say this out as a story, it becomes an inspiring story like zoom ceo's story. He pitched zoom idea while being at WebEx(Cisco). Question: will you share the story to public as it is true and the story can become viral headlines or you will not share the story as the previous company manager was good and company took good care of you. #tech
That story doesn’t need to have a villain. You can tell it without dunking on your past boss. You can even praise them for teaching you so much.
There are plenty of reasons a company wouldn’t want to pursue your idea. That doesn’t mean anyone did anything wrong. I’d talk but paint everyone in a flattering light because it doesn’t sound good when you try to blame people or make them into villains.
Share it with your shrink so they can diagnose the mental illness causing your delusions of grandeur
You can tell the story without actually mentioning the name of the company. From what I am reading in your post so far, you are saying to follow your dreams, start your own startup because even at a supportive company and with a supportive boss it is very hard to get innovative ideas through... This doesn't dink your previous boss or company at all
I’d make sure the prior company doesn’t have any claims on the IP you came up with while working for them, before sharing the story.
