Open AI GPT updates -- what's next? Any ideas?
got recruited for a contract role at cadence that claims it will eventually converted to fte within 9 months. pay is double what google offered. too good to be true? what is the work culture like? #cadencedesignsystems
Sounds like a contractor bait and switch, and for a contractor 2x pay is not anything special. If they can't give FTE now chances are they won't in 9 months time.
bruh I just went through 6 rounds of interviews for a full time role that pays half đ© we have to see what actually ends up working out, no offers in the past 5 months
âEventually converted to FTE in X timeâ is the same lie as âyouâll be able to get a promotion in 1 yearâ that recruiters use. Does it happen? Yes, but far, far from the norm. Also consider the benefits that you lose for a contract role. Unless youâre also contract at Google, Googleâs benefits are worth a ton. PTO, 401k, holidays, healthcare, etc. Always approach contract positions as never converting and ending in the time frame that was originally given. If you get extended or even more lucky get converted, then great, you won a small lottery. Ask yourself: would I take this job even if it ended after the 9 months?
I meant offered by google as in what they offered for contract pay. I was a temp they reinterviewed to convert to vendor and it didnât work out. got rejected for a fte role at G and been jobless with no offers for 5 months
Then there is no harm seeing this interview through. Contract roles can and do vary a ton. The pay part doesnât sound too good to be true, but donât bank on converting. Continue to find leads and interview for FT unless youâd like to stay contracting.
