During a company meeting when asked if pay will keep up with inflation the CEO said anyone who works at KLA to make money (to feed their family and put a roof over their heads) can go elsewhere. The worldwide corporate audience was stunned but not surprised. Then he goes ahead and builds a $300 million building in the middle of no where aka Michigan. It’s so hard getting people to move their they are literally bribing and kidnapping people.
Ann Arbor is not quite the middle of nowhere
They still can’t find anyone to work there versus Milpitas which is built on a landfill.
I wish there was someone at that meeting who already resigned from the job and then ask some simple questions to the CEO. Q: What's the objective of KLA? A: To serve the customers well Q: Sure, but why do you want to do that? What's the end goal that you discuss in your board meetings? A: To make sure that shareholders are happy. We have an obligation towards them. Q: And when will the shareholders be happy? A: When the stock price increases. Q: So you are saying that the company's prime objective is to make money for their shareholders but the employees are not supposed to even think about supporting their families and pay the bills? A: Blah blah blah.. next question please 1 hour later: That employee is fired. He sues for discrimination. Gets a fat severance, puts up this video which he was recording in secret to get million views and gets famous.
A VP did sue the company for wrongful termination and she won. Crazy… They have abused the h-1b program. The previous CEO Schroeder is guilty of backdating stock options. Not sure if any whistleblower got compensated. Not sure how all this makes customers happy or increases shareholder value. Sounds like a circus.
I worked at ASML before. I think these semiconductor equipment companies give excellent technical knowledge (for HW folks) but once you acquire that you have to move on.
KLA is especially bad. The Milpitas stench is so bad in the afternoon people start gagging indoors right after noon when the sun has heated the landfill. You can see this green aura like the northern lights surrounding the campus at night. It’s the radon radioactively decaying.
KLA India is no good either. Nepotism is rampant: no less radioactive than the Milpitas landfill. The managers bring in their wives, kith and kin, and folks from their villages. The old tech stack is not much of an issue. However, the old, feeble and narrow minds are. My advice is to stay away from this place. KLA India will suck your soul out and spit you out as if you were nothing. I do not wish this suffering even on my enemies. However, if you are into dirty politics, you will feel at home. However, do not hope to win politically in other organizations after graduating from KLA India. The most you can do is win a few arguments with you in-laws.
Sounds like the GSS division located in Milpitas located in Building 1. It’s like the Hunger Games there. The new building next to it is nice but you’d get killed trying to get there.
Ceo is pretty straightforward. I guess that is good. You know what you’re getting
