Huge email fight during the weekend over silly things!
Hello! What salary increases have you had at Optum, UHC, and/or UHG from starting salary to your current salary? Salary increases in percentages, salary increases from promotions, or salary increases from switching to other roles, departments, or moving from UHC to Optum or Optum to UHC, etc.

1% increase and no bonus 1st year, took 20% pay cut when promoted to Lv 29
1-2% increase annually. 10% increase if promoted and moved to another business otherwise maybe 5% raise? I'm continuously amazed and how Optum pays more for new people coming in vs employees who have institutional knowledge.
Was told by a recruiter they can only offer up to 50% of range for internal while they can go up to 75% for external. Insane!!! We are moving to to west coast this summer and I plan on applying for other companies. I asked for COL adjustment since we are moving from a range X to a range Y location. Nothing! I was told it wasn’t required by the company. I work remote.
2-3% annual, usually ~5% lateral and ~10% promotion 1 job grade. If I recall correctly, there’s and internal policy that suggests max promotion increase of 15%, unless extraordinary circumstances.
Been at Optum for five years in March. First year eval was 4/5, each subsequent year 5/5. Most I've ever received as an annual increase was 4.01%, the least was 1.8%. Not even a COL for exceeding performance. Garbage company.
5 years, 12 % increase in that time. Always get a 5 or 4. Usually average 2% yearly with one larger adjustment when I entered a new roll. We budget 2% or lower per person for merit yearly. The only time folks really get increases is when they leave the org and return 3 years later. We say we reward performance, but that is only true for 31s and up. We routinely and systematically underpay our lower grade folks. Rrp is a different story, that has doubled for me in my 5 years and now is ~30% to 50% of yearly comp depending upon stock performance.
My team was all between 2-3% this year.
Have you noticed higher increases if you change departments or switch companies (like switching from UHC to Optum or UHG to UHC)?
I left the company entirely. A lot of the people I worked with complained that they hadn’t seen more than a COL adjustment since they started. I can’t speak directly to your question, but I joined another large company in the Twin Cities and am making 50% more than I did at Optum. I’d say just keep your eyes open and see what else is out there if you’re not happy with what you are making currently.
