Google is better than Amazon. You’re basically going backwards. I worked at both and then, moved on to Apple. Apple, so far, is probably the best out of the three.

How do you justify pod, boq, piccolo files, annealing over easy and transferable stuff like AWS ECS, AWS EKS, AWS DDB, Lambda and nice pipelines? Were you in NAWS team? Looks like you were in MAWS team to mention this experience.

No one wants a Noogler! Competition for internal transfer is too tough and Nooglers don't stand a chance! I am stuck with my original team for a year.

All these perks get old like free food and all. By month-6 you realize besides perk, everything was better at Amazon. The work, scope, tech stack, promo velocity, people (yes people besides manager, none of SDEs thought they were awesome just because they are at A). Here people have Google arrogance!
OP, I know what you’re saying. Granted I’ve never worked at Google but I have friends who echo exactly what you’re saying. Amazon has a lot of issues but most people are just trying to work hard and get ahead. Processes are fairly well documented particularly for promo, meeting the bar, comp, etc.
Exactly! Google is one of the most hyped place, just like Hollywood or Times Square. It feels good at first but soon you realize this is not worth it.

40-60 but anytime I did ovettime it was because I enjoyed my work and scope and I was passionate to deliver. Else I could live by working 40-45 hours max.
Clearly you miss the PIP focus culture. Some refer to this as Stockholm syndrome. I am certain the PIP machine will welcome you back with open arms.

I would take a PIP focused culture with transferable skills and interesting work over working on something unbelievably boring and uninteresting. You clearly have not worked at Google to understand how much boring it can get! One piece of advice - interesting + slogging is always better than boring + slogging. Later is worse combination!
