No legacy auto OEM should go all in to EV, unless they are ready to give up a substantial portion of the global market. Offer gas, hybrid, plug-in, and EV to address all market segments. -For me with reasonable commute & weekend warrior, plug-in is ideal. -For places with poor infrastructure like rural America, south America, Africa, etc, they can't support EV even if they want to. -In the middle east, gas is dirt cheap compared to electricity. STUTTGART, Feb 22 (Reuters) - Mercedes-Benz on Thursday delayed its electrification goal by five years and assured investors it would keep sprucing up its combustion engine models, becoming the latest carmaker to flag a weaker-than-expected appetite for battery-powered cars.
