“The incident occurred just two days after the company announced plans to shut 150 of its roughly 900 stores and lay off 20 percent of its staff". The man, who jumped from the 18th floor of the 'Jenga' tower in Manhattan, New York, on September 2, has been identified as Gustavo Arnal, the Chief Financial Officer of Bed Bath & Beyond, an US-based chain of retail stores, according to multiple reports. https://www.cnbctv18.com/world/bed-bath-beyond-cfo-gustavo-arnal-jumps-from-manhattan-new-york-tower-to-his-death-14645821.htm
Why though man, why?
He didn’t do anything wrong though? Was just bummed over what happened with the company?
Some people’s identity and self-worth is wrapped up in their work, especially when they are in a position of leadership. BBY was failing, so he might have felt like a failure himself. And if he had depression or any other mental disorder, it makes dealing with things like this 100x harder.
😥😥
Just goes to show you never know what's going on in someone's life. The company faltering was probably just one of many issues he was battling. Be kind to people. There's so much internal pain and illness in the world.
Amen
why?
Rest in peace. Let this be a lesson to value the more important things instead of just your job. So sad :(
He could have just quit his job 😩 what does being a CEO even matter in life? Unless he was about to be arrested for something, but even that too
I doubt the job issue was the main motivation. Just kind of the icing.
Sad but begs questions what was he doing that made him think this was right move? Seems like madoff style embezzlement to jump off a building or some really bad secret idk sad
It's not funny 😐
