Looks like there are openings in the data engineering org. How is the culture and work life balance in this org? What about growth opportunities?
A lotta Zillow blinders are super neg, not sure about growth in that org but we're rebuilding after a few rough months. Culture on the tech side is generally good, relaxed, great WLB. Full remote culture is still a little weird but were still figuring it out. It's hard to build relationships in 60 minute zoom meetings.
I enjoy working there, we have a great work life balance since we are fully remote. I take advantage of traveling and working wherever I want. Since the ZO shut down it’s been a little challenging, but I still personally enjoy it. I haven’t run into any issues personally. We have a referral program- dm for more details.
What challenge did you face exactly?
Having been at many different companies myself, I can definitely say it's the best company that I've worked for so far. Great WLB, awesome benefits, good pay. DM me if you need a referral.
Almost everyone left in data engineering org. Think about it for yourself
Care to explain why folks left. Is it because of layoff or TC or something else
Boring and shitty work. Company has no good vision and no exciting projects. From directors to ICs, people are dropping like flies
dm if interested for referral
Lots of attrition, some teams have been gutted with TL/manager departing in one go. I think tech stack all around is fairly up-to-date and relevant/transferrable. Depends on what your goals are. If you thrive in somewhat ambiguous environment (go getter who can define projects themselves) or are on the other end, coaster who wants to minimize work (like me) there is probably good opportunity. For more middle ground people, probably better elsewhere. +1 on Blind people skewing negative as well (including myself)
I would avoid the data engineering org and go for a product team if you can.
Why? I heard their WLB is one of the best?
Don’t join. Stay away
Can you say why?
