I got an offer from Kearney, and apple has moved up my final interviews so that I can get a competing offer from them. I’m a 26 year old single mom, if that matters…and stability and culture matters more to me than money. BUT I don’t know what the right decision is to make here. The only FAANG that hasn’t done mass layoffs or one of the most prestigious consulting firms in the country? Kearney Offer: 145 base, 15 sign on 10% in bonus pool Apple Potential Offer: 145 base, 100 RSU refresher, 30ish sign on YOE: 6 TC: 185k #kearney #apple #faang #tech #consulting
It really depends on what career you want right? If you want to do consulting no way in hell Apple over Kearney but then vice versa for tech. I’d personally say Kearney because there will be more opportunities down the line with Apple
I’ve never been in consulting so I have no idea. Consulting sounds like more exposure and greater opportunity, but apple seems like THE place to be and endless opportunities after Apple.
I also don’t think Blind polls will be helpful at all in regards to this. If you haven’t noticed, only tech people come to Blind. For consulting/finance ask on the forum equivalent to blind for those industries like wallstreetoasis. If you put the poll there the results would be flipped in the opposite direction of your current one.
Some QA teams work a lot including weekends and requires office visit, so, check with the hiring manager before joining.
Yeah this is a hybrid role.
I would suggest also asking this question on an app called fishbowl. That's where all of the consulting people go. But as far as I know, Kearney is not among the most prestigious for consulting. It does not stand with McKinsey, Boston Consulting, or Bain (MBB) and is maybe at the level of big four (PWC, Deloitte, etc.). Apple, on the other hand, is literally among the best in class for their industry (although not top paying as blinders will remind you). I personally vote for apple for these reasons. I think you could go to MBB from Apple easily but not sure if you could go to MBB from Kearney. For these reasons, I'll throw my vote for Apple. Btw, why not stay at Micron if you want stability?
Micron is probably the least stable to be at and I got laid off last Tuesday. Thanks for this insight.
Few things to consider: apple is notoriously slow on their hiring schedule, so I would not risk giving up the offer from Kearney in this economy if apple is not responding fast enough. Apple is also known for not having good WLB. If you are a single mom you might have to consider how to care for your kid.
Thanks for this. I’m lucky that I’ve gone through 3 rounds (7 people) in 3 weeks with apple. They moved up my final interview to tomorrow after telling them I have another offer.
If it’s WLB you seek, Apple may still be a better bet even though it’s not known for being the most WLB friendly tech company. As for layoffs, even though Apple hasn’t done it yet, things might change. For Kearney, I do expect work to pick up this year since they mostly do ops improvement and as most companies try to go lean, the project inflow might increase. But as compared to MBB and even Big4, they are relatively unknown in tech. So, there’s that brand name aspect to consider if you want to be in tech in long term. Btw, if they are offering you a Manager position in their Management Consulting practice, then that base pay from Kearney seems really low. They offer their Associates out of B-school about 188K. Check managementconsulted.com for the latest salary figures.
Thanks for this, I talked to some people who are first year associates and the salary seems to be 105ish. This is when they’re fresh out of top business programs. I don’t have a grad degree, I went to a state university for finance. I assumed this was the best they could offer. The cap seems to be 160k from what I understand.
For WLB - Culture wise: I would have told you Apple for prestige and opening up doors. But now after working for them, Nope - choose Kearney. Maybe there are better organizations and departments. I haven't seen it.
Apple - stability, culture, overall environment
Apple
Apple and make it a poll
I did thanks
