Zoox 2.0 offer evaluation
Help me figure out this offer at Zoox 2.0 (post Amazon acquisition) in Bay area, CA. MS + 3.5 YOE base: 150k stocks: 75k AMZN (3 yrs vesting) Zoox SARs (ZARs): 45k units sign-on: 20k Current TC: 160k I feel the offered TC is low given that there is no mention of ESPP, 401k match, annual bonus, or equity refresher. I’m hoping for a 30% increase in current TC and hence trying to reach TC ~210k I’m interviewing with other companies but no offers yet. #offer #zoox #amazon #tc #tech

Zars will probably be worth nothing unless you plan on staying for more than 5 years.

ZARs are liquid and pretty much have guaranteed growth based on how much amazon
I disagree. They are not liquid for at least 3 years, have horrific back weighted super long vesting schedules, and it’s not at all clear how much they would increase in value because Amazon has no incentive to get a high 409A.

Invests going forward That does seem like a low ball offer given your experience though. From what I can gather at Zoox YOE and the MS matter much less than performance and compensation seems to be merit based
Interesting. My interview performance was really good. And given that there is always some risk in switching, I should ask for at least ~30-40% raise. Thanks for your input. :)
I think it's low balled ZARs has zero value and you shouldn't consider it while evaluating your offer
I agree. I’m not counting any ZARs. From what I’ve read, Zoox shares are currently worth $0.60-0.70. Is that close?

Yes. That’s my plan. Hope other interviews goes well so that I can present a counter offer.
As for the ZARs, maybe they'll be worth nothing, maybe the price will 100x in the next 10 years. No way to know. I suspect they'll grow at least moderately in the next couple years - if they don't then we can always leave
