What happens when most of your team is Indian?
I boomed back to Meta. They are delusional in trying to build the next compute platform after wiping out 22,000 employees and hiring a bunch of CWs to do FTE work. More than half the company is in cover your ass golden handcuffs mode, and the other half is scaling up as second class citizens that get no upside to seeing any company efforts succeed. They even outsourced parts of recruitment due to penny pinching and wiped out toothpicks from the bathrooms. Meta might be fairly valued at this point and may continue moderate stock growth for wall streets sake, but it's not going to own the next big anything. #tech #meta #itsover
No! Not the bathroom toothpicks! Is nothing sacred?
For the record I love Snap, but hot damn y'all had epic video filters /creator tools yet you let ByteDance create Capcut. Like what the fuuuk, I wish Snap built it instead for creators:(((
I wish we'd done that, our anything competent, too. But our "secret sauce" is overpaying people, especially the founders, to suck at everything they do. Not so secret these days, hence the stock price plummeting every quarter after earnings 😐
Dang, you had toothpicks in the bathroom! That's not something I'm going to lookup what they're used for.
Recruitment should be outsourced. What value do permanent recruiters have that contractors don't?
A lot of interviewers have been complaining about candidate quality as of late. Even though the market is flooded with engineers. Gee I wonder why.
How were the FTE recruiters screening out the bad candidates?

A terrible company does terrible things. This is what happens when you build a mercenary empire centered around PIP and perpetual layoffs instead of investing in retaining and keeping your employees around long term. TC: 105K
Correct then you have Google where it takes a year to do a simple frontend change.
Google’s failure is because of bureaucracy and hierarchy that makes these challenges possible. OpenAI or any of the other brand name startups that have experienced growth over the past year are better examples of how you can prioritize talent and still achieve rapid success in the same time.
What do you mean the next compute platform??
You are correct. But pay is skyrocketing. Haha
why is pay skyrocketing?
Isn’t your tc double this year than last year?
