I really want to move to Zurich this year. Considered transfer in Meta, but it doesn’t seem like there are going to be positions in my area, only ML/CV positions. Google - i had internships with them but we all know the news. I have just 1YoE, I’m not a specialist in ML/CV which filters out many jobs out there :( TC: 100k #hiring #jobopening
If you are a White European it's a good country otherwise it's racist as FcK. Been there done that!
Sorry to hear that. I already lived there for a couple of months and love this place. But I’m white :(
Switzerland has very strict quotas for non EU/Swiss nationals.
Cost of living is high, you will have a good life but not able to generate wealth as much as you can in US
Fuck generating wealth, I want to enjoy my life
Not true. Taxes are lower, prices are similar to NY or Bay Area.
Meta is also hiring Android and OS people in Zurich. The office is really nice and has a good vibe to it. I know people hiring basically generalist SWEs at Meta Zurich. That said: Adobe, Nvidia, Google, Microsoft, Snyk.
Maybe it’s partially hiring freeze even for internals still going on, but I doubt they will have much headcount in Zurich this year. No HC in Google and probably not for a while. Micro/Nvidia looks like hiring mostly for senior and/or ML stuff. Really regret not talking to Snyk when they still had open positions. Adobe is in Basel? Anyway thank you for response!
I am based in Zurich and generalist SWE. We have other positions besides CV/ML
May I DM you?
Meta, can you please provide more details?
Only FDSE?
I only see one FDSE role for it with Java requirement. Does it have some generalist SWE roles?

If your team does daily standups, your manager is a micromanager
Forget about it. Go to the USA
I was also thinking about going to US for maybe a year, but I really want to live and settle in Zurich eventually. I’m not sure how I’m going to deal with changing country again and being potentially disappointed
Zurich is tight not an easy move
