The man I love hates me because I’m Vietnamese
I’m an L6 SDM in AWS. Got pinged by a recruiter, had an initial 15 minute call with some basic screening questions. She promised to follow up, but then ghosted entirely. Feeling low — forget about FANG, not even confident Albertsons will want me now... Any advice on how to become more marketable?
Ok, yeah just know that you being rejected from smaller places doesn’t bring your market value down, everyone has a place for their own. Also I have faced that couple times, recruiters reaching, spending half an hour talking to me with much enthusiasm, only to ghost me after they get in contact with HMs.
You were probably too expensive.
Perhaps you mentioned TC and they could not afford you. Or a different candidate was close to getting an offer, but your resume was too attractive to ignore. So recruiter chatted but HM could not wait.
Did not talk about tc at all
I failed Albertsons after 17 interview rounds because I could not figure out how to debug the FTL engine issue in the 18th round. Don’t feel too bad.
Did they serve lunch during any of those rounds? I heard their food is amazing
Tendies definitely asked my most concerning question! LoL
You know that Nordstrom just had a massive layoff, right?
Did not know. What’s the scoop?
They had a massive layoff
Recruiters ghost for the same reason people dating ghost - they found a better option. Are you better looking, harder working, smarter, and cheaper than your competition?
Take a marketing class
Maybe it’s not you, it’s them.
My girlfriend used that on me. It doesn't hurt any less...
Usually they want you to quit referring to them as 'girlfriend' after that conversation 😉
Don't think too much into this. Recruiters cast a wide net and are indiscriminate about who they reach out to. Ghosting people without explanation is still rude tho.
This. Its rude but there are hundreds if not thousands of applicants that get rejected, it's a crapshoot mostly
They kinda have to ghost because any explanation they give exposes them to liability in our world of too many lawyers.
Dont be entitled dude, why would they want an aws sdm who will most likely to be picky as hell and ask for insane amount of money for them to move? Maybe they also been burned many times wasting time on trying to recruit amazon sdms, and know any half decent cheaper sdm can do the job just as good. You will probably not make Albertsons either. You should try to assess your market value and specialties and do a targeted job search, and you can end up in, say Azure SDM.
Well, I’m not entitled. I think it’s clear they don’t need me, and yes — I would probably ask for lots of money. But then why reach out in the first place?
Wtf would she ping him in the first place then??
