What crime did trump commit?
Had couple interactions during the passed four years with Amazonians/ex-amazonians.. recently had more during my job hunting - have to say that’s mostly very bad experience. Super arrogant and super aggressive when talking, asking questions and judging you. Can’t imagine to work with such a group of people or company in my life. Never seen such a consistent pattern from people I interact/talk with. (Sample number, around 7-8 Amazon people in different times) I hope these are just exceptions! What’s your experience/feelings.
Op, interact with me? I can feel the corrosion happening already
There are many posts about this in the internal blind. People (or those around them) eventually notice they've changed to become more defensive/abrasive.
Tbh I feel a bit breathless today when I talked with that Amazonian, checking at the clock hoping to end the call soon and very interesting thing is he seldom look at me when talking instead just looking around and made me even more anxious - feel like he s not focusing really..
Just like facebook is killing society by indirectly seeping in jealousy and fakes, amazon is degrading work culture everywhere - because the ex amazonians carry that shit everywhere.
Capitalism naked
I wouldn’t blame just Amazon alone. The entire big tech is toxic for the most part. Speaking of Google. Worked there and never saw so many perf obsessed corp drones in my life. Zero interest in product or user needs, only care about their promo packet
Stockholm syndrome where they have absorbed the culture of their captors who see them only as a resource to be used or a PIP to the head. Thats how it is in Amazon and the lack of WLB means that it will mess up the individual, their family and eventually every social interaction. I like to advise folks to stay out and for the poor folks already in the trap.... to get out asap.
Amazon is the best company in this fucking world
Been in amazon for 2 yrs, and left for the exact same reason - too toxic. Managers don't have any empathy, and they use PIP/Dev list as their weapons to manage their people. Other than that, they don't know how to manage a team. Many of them are mediocre, and graduated from no name colleges. Politics are rampant, and favoritism and nepotism are everywhere. Simply pathetic.
I remember many years ago I interviewed, I said I wanted to use bathroom, the interviewer said, “I will count it in your interview time.” while typing without even look at me.
I used to say this about Microsoft employees.
It is true. Being an ex-amazonian myself, I have seen the toxicity first hand. To sustain in that dark pool, either you have to assimilate the poison, or leave. I am so glad I am out of there. Funny thing is, after a while the seasoned amazonians don't even realize the brainwash.
One thing I notice Amazonians bring their principles everywhere even though they are not with the company anymore.. it’s being very sad but I’m not agreeing with some details of their principles- and it was really hard and toxic 1:1 I had today with 3 ex-Amazonians (sorry doesn’t mean to offend people and I’m sure there are great people anywhere even with Amazon and I’m just sharing my own experience)
They do feel the downhill behavior change initially, the so called LPs are the guiding principles of brainwash, and the first slap comes when they start citing LPs in their home and personal life. However, Bezo's workshop takes precedence, and the initial sense wanes away. The sweatshop continues .
