Given the operational review, one must assume layoffs will hit Twilio Segment. There is no other way to reduce cost quickly. With that in mind, what roles will be impacted? Engineering, Product, Renewal Account Executive, Sales, Customer Success etc? The company has stated that revenue churn & contraction retention is basically top priority so I would think any role that has this specific focus (CS, AEs) might be safe, but might not? Twilio completely eliminated their CSM team during a previous layoff round but those members were supporting customers that were simply sending text messages.
Can they get moved over to Comms? We need more frontend engineers in Comms
there's like maybe 5-7 frontend engineers in all of Segment, if that.
Anyone working on engage premier is likely cut. That's product, engineers. Also probably some cutbacks in marketing, underperdorming sales.
Any chance for selling segment business completely?
I don’t know who would want it. Sounds like there are numerous competitors who have a solid foothold in the market already.
When is it happening? Any new update?
Yes
… simply sending text messages to the tune of billions. Yes yes.. keep everyone around for segments $75M in revenue and dropping…
I hope all.
Engineering for sure
For what products? Engage? Others?
Engage is dead. If they want to sell Segment why would you need engage?
