Edge computing jobs
Can we get a quick comment or two on how many people think edge computing will be the next big wave in computing? Are you seeing jobs or hires in edge computing in your company or network? If yes what kind - PM ? Eng? Thanks
Edge as in “CDN” right? I think it makes sense from a physics perspective, mostly for consumer facing applications though like e-commerce and games. Is it the next wave? Probably not entirely but it’s fun to finally see new cloud companies like Fly.io come out of this.
Lots in telco land trying to develop new revenue streams like IOT. all public cloud providers have an edge rack “out of the box” you can deploy at anyones site to extend the “edge” to your location
I think edge computing is the next big thing for sure, as more and more workloads need to be processed closer to where they are consumed. But we need to make edge to cloud work end to end. I would love to find a job in this space, specifically IOT, AV, AMR.
