Meta E6 interview prep

I have a phone screen coming up for an E6 position followed by a possible virtual onsite. Is solving the top 100 LC FB-tagged problems enough to prepare for coding rounds? What designs should I go over for the system design round?#engineering #software #swe #meta

The Interview.Me.Mock guy had landed facebook E6: https://us.teamblind.com/s/pQAFKJ7b He used to have recordings of his mock interviews on a youtube channel but he set them to unlisted (“hidden”) As for coding, hopefully the bar is lowered a bit as you climb the ladder, but I heard for E4 or so that you’re expected to be flawlessly cracking 2 medium-hard LC problems per round. Here’s my infographic attached again while I’m at it. And my links: - github.com/systemdesignfightclub/SDFC - youtube.com/@SDFC - 7-day discord invite link: https://discord.gg/nyxWm9w7

Most of the books of this image are useless and will just waste your time. Like Microservice, you just need to mention it in 2seconds not read a full book about it. Alex xu, Grokking, Dddia and reading carefully the reference of the first two is enough. Add few mocks Interview and that's it

That 3rd column is titled “Secondary & Tangential Materials” it’s not stuff you should be reading if you’re specifically preparing with focus solely on interviews. It’s the stuff that you can scrape some insight from, but you shouldn’t touch them unless you’ve already gone through all that other stuff you mentioned. Wanted to point out that the Interview.Me.Mock guy was also reading competitive programming books and whitepapers. I don’t think you can crack staff with just a casual reading of the standard 2-3 books because then everyone and their grandma would just read those 2-3 books and be landing $500k+ offers.

Alex xu has like 3 volumes now :) is the first one enough? Noone can go into detail about how maps are stored in google maps right?

OP is looking for E6, which is staff/principal. idk if Volume 1 on its own is even sufficient for senior roles. it’s definitely not going to show you how to crack flash sale, which is in senior rounds

E6 is staff, E8 is principal. Big gap between them

What is your current role?

Sys design bar for E6 is high and more important than coding IMHO. They used to do 2 sys des rounds, shows how important it is to Meta. (FWIW found out in a mock that my sys des chops were shit and probably kept me at E5 at Meta. )

What were the questions asked on system design, just being general idea or do they expect details in things like google maps etc
