The end of Backdoor Roth?!
What’s the etiquette for accepting an offer and then receiving a higher offer a couple weeks later from another company?
In the end, the might Himalayas will be uprooted from its base and the land will be wiped away by sea, but the superior persons will still be standing firm on their resolve to fulfill the promises they had made. 😊 With that being said, just want to say that I am in the same boat as yours. Accepted internal transfer but have a much better external one. Lol
Go for it. Do you think any company will ever give you more than they can make you work for.
Do you care about burning a bridge with company 1? Have you started working there yet? Etiquette isn’t really involved; sometimes you just have to look out for number one.
It’s an internal transfer and they refused to negotiate on salary even knowing I had interviewed elsewhere.
Then fuck ‘em, I guess.
I was in this situation 5 yr ago. Once I told them about external opportunity, they indicated to do "something" to keep me, but my new work was way cool than this one so I politely declined :)
The company will not think once before layoffs. Forget etiquette and take the best offer. All the best!
But it will think twice after you try applying there again
The company won’t remember. Only that recruiter or manager might remember.
Depends on you, no? I had a similar situation. I got a better offer from another company 1 day after signing my contract. I did not want to reneg on my initial offer and stuck with it, even though the second one was 25K more. In the end, it depends on you and how you feel.
Yeah dude, Xactly
Lol. I don't work there anymore...but couldn't find a way to change it :p
