Looking for a mentor on transitioning from Microsoft to Expedia Inc!

Hi there, it’s been a dream of mine to work for Expedia Inc! I’ve been a Technical PM at Microsoft for 3 years or so, and find I’m not being challenged enough in my current role. Expedia has been a dream company of mine. Last year, I was in final rounds interviewing at Expedia and was passed on for an internal candidate, but the manager was super helpful and tried referring me around. Alas, no openings at the time. Would anyone be willing to chat with me about how they joined and perhaps even refer me? I have 7ish years of PM experience at fortune 50s, and an addiction to making people laugh quiet meetings. Thanks for the read! @Expedia#pm #product #productmanager #productmanager @Expedia Inc

Just curious why is Expedia your dream company?

Microsoft SamusAr0n OP Apr 11

Passionate about travel and it’s just a local company that I’ve followed since I was young. I’ve had many interactions with the employees and have only heard good things

Have you read stories about others who landed their „dream job“ but ended up getting laid off or it didn’t turn out as they expected? Try to set realistic expectations so that any disappointment that arise will not be too traumatic. It’s just a job.

I’m fine, but thanks! I still need a job for the time being

what lvl are you at msft?

Expedia Group uukk6636 Apr 12

Omg.. don’t come. I had the same thought as you thinking working in travel tech will be so much fun. No, not at all. This company is a sinking ship with bad leadership who has no clue about strategy. All about outsourcing and cost saving, no innovation. I can’t wait to get out

What company would you say is in a better position, Expedia or Hopper?
