My friend got an offer in adobe as a software engineer. offer : 140k, 800rsu Over 4 years. experience of nearly 3 years. 1.what are the levels in adobe? Software engineer sounds entry level to me. 2. is this a standard offer? 3. how are the layoffs? 4. how is the work culture? 5. do you think it is worth taking up considering no other offers from big 4?
Which level? Mts or computer scientist 1?
no level specified. just software engineer
800 Adobe stock units? or $800,000 worth of Adobe stock?
800 stock units
so roughly $104k
800 just sounds wrong. unless your friend is a genius I call shenanigans!
shares? that doesn't seem super high, mine were almost that at basically entry level
value would be roughly $104k
Adobe is an amazing company culturally. I took a pay cut to come here
will echo that. was severely burnt out in my previous gig. Adobe resuscitated me ๐๐
I will add that Adobe is way more remote friendly than other bay area tech companies
ah shares sound right. ๐ since I replied , my 2 cents are that Adobe is a great company to work for. work life balance is amazing and the 2 yearly shutdowns make it awesome ๐ a lot depends on the manager and division though.
yeah I don't really see why people talk about the shutdowns so much. Almost every top company in the bay does that
Twice a year?
+1 about the work culture. Pretty awesome. The pay also sounds about right, do you happen to know which ORG
not revealing it. do you know about the levels?
The culture is wonderful, but manager and team matter like it does any where. Twice a year shut down is wonderful. Sabbatical and reward options every 5 years is wonderful. Pay and rewards have been great for me. I was prepared to take a pay cut leaving my last company. I received a raise in base salary plus rsus and the added benefits above which my last company does not have. Also, I now have true work life balance and working from home is accepted as needed.
1. It's mainly computer scientist and sr computer scientist - within computer scientists there are different levels. So your software engineer title sounds like entry level to mid level. 2. Yes, I would say it's a standard offer unless you have 5 years of experience. 3. Not much layoffs. Occasional or rare. 4. Work culture is good. I guess it depends on team to team, but in my team WFH is not allowed in Friday or Monday unless you have a compelling reason. Also once a week WFH is also not allowed. You take WFH in need basis. But if your manager sees you are taking it regularly, he/she will stop it. But not true for all teams as I hear other teams defer on this. 5. Yes, I think the offer should be accepted if your job experience is between 1 to 4 years. If more, you should bargain on the base salary for 10k more.
Can someone refer me at Adobe? I am a Data Scientist working on deep learning projects. I came across few positions that match with my skills. Thanks.

I don't work in engineering, so can't talk about 1 or 2. Layoffs happen sometimes, but I don't think we have had a big layoff in a while. The work culture id say is amazing, Adobe really takes care of its employees. Just the fact that the company shuts down for 3 weeks out of the year, that's enough reason to work here.
Don't a lot of companies in the Bay Area shut down for Christmas?
nope. they force you to take vacation.
