airbnb
Care to explain?
I have pretty bad experience with Airbnb. It's a product focused company and not eng heavy. Eng friends here are not happy doing only CRUD, but have to stay because of high compensation.
What’s your bad experience
I feel Facebook has disgusting process. I apply with or without referral, it always rejects me without even screening or test or anything. I have 3 years of relevant work ex. Internship at Amazon + return offer But Facebook just won’t call!
Airbnb thinks they are saving the world. I got this "we re just better than everyone else" attitude when I interviewed with them. Was very off-putting. That and a total lack of diversity (very Chinese heavy) in the dev team made me want to stay as far as possible from that place.
So you got an offer and then declined it?
Oh no... Hit a nerve did I!?
The team I interviewed had no clear idea about the Role. The manager and the other team member seems to have little understanding of the work that they are doing. Interviewers had a list of basic question irrelevant to the Job Requirement and wasted time on discussing unnecessary things. In fact, two of them told me that the questions are not related to your job role. I would recommend them to do better in hiring. They team culture seems to be off, one guy was commuting from Santa Clara everyday and the manager is not allowing him to move to San Jose Office. I decided not to go for the second round with them.
The kool aid is very strong there. I would definitely drink it too for 350K+ TC
Remember that interviews are bidirectional: it’s for them to see if you’re a fit as much as it is for you to see if you want to work for them. If it was a bad experience for you, let them know that you are no longer interested.
500k+ TC for senior and above at Airbnb. I don't give a shit about interview experience or any Kool aid for that TC 😂
I heard, you have to be fluent in Mandarin to get into Airbnb? Is that right?
That definitely helps 😂
Huh
