interviewing for two sr ux designer roles at amazon. my current TC is 230k. is that in the realm for amazon? normally i dont state my salary in hopes i dont box myself in, but wondering if i should when we start to discuss numbers as it looks like my current rate is higher than what they offer. #salary #tc
Yeah you’ll get a little higher than that prolly
Is it worth it to state my current or wait for them to state the first number?
Don’t ever give a number Forst
L6 designer is quite high. Check on Levels.fyi ; also AWS pays more too
Ya in talks with an AWS team and 2 other teams, good to know
Negotiate base salary as much as you can ... you bonuses and merit increase are a % of your base salary. Also, RSU are 5/15/20/20 so they will really kick in in year 3 ... as far as I know, AMZ average turn over is 2 years or less , so odds are you won't be there in year 3... My 2 cents...
if seattle area base is capped at 160k but negotiating stocks will give you equivalent in signon bonus to keep tc consistent which is hard cash in first two yrs.
@Walmart have you worked at Amazon?
L6 designer go well beyond 320k as far as i am familiar.
How are you familiar with this range, if you don’t mind me asking? (Experience or friends?)

Good point, the numbers on glass door etc are saying 130 base 60 bonus 🤔 so I was hesitant to even take it seriously since that’s a big hit. But glad to hear TC is closer to what I’m making
Check levels.fyi too, a little more accurate and shows the variation across location / team. Glassdoor is low. Even Comparably is a little low.
