I hear that Apple has very closed culture and doesn't allow anyone from one team to talk to other teams. is this true for all the groups or are there exceptions? have you found this restrictive or don't care bcos they pay well. TC 158k
“doesn't allow anyone from one team to talk to other teams.” - FALSE!! You can talk to anyone in the company but you cannot talk about disclosed projects to undisclosed people.
This is true but a huge fraction of projects are disclosed. So I don't think OP is directionally wrong. You can go talk to other teams all you want, but they're not necessarily going to be able to tell you much about what they're working on.
In SWE world only a fraction of projects are disclosed. Can’t say about hw peeps.
Yup. Apple has a shitty culture, at least in the org I was in. I moved to FB and it feels like heaven in terms of open culture.
meta is place full of angels isn’t it?
Not gonna lie, Apple was so bad that it feels FB is full of angels lol.
Never heard of that
Its not as bad as pple here make it sound .. there is a clear distinction of who gets access to what .. and its need basis .. disclosures are common in microsoft too if you work in devices or un release software..
It's a great culture. It allows relevant folks to make fast progress without attempting to please irrelevant teams in the name of openness and inclusiveness. Need to know basis.
