Please advice which offer should i take? TC 300 in both Product Management role My factors are mostly impact and doing actual PM work
YOE?
5 in PM
Is this an infra PM role?
What org in Apple?
You will regret Box. Look at the recent departures. Stock price in last 2/3 years. You will get the idea. Not a lot of product innovation (actual PM) either. Look at the mobile apps, desktop app and you will understand. For impact, you are competing with a team of 30+ PMs who are all trying to fight for the next level. Org structure is a big mess. Only impact you will have is on your career and health. Biggest pro is it is super relaxed and laid back culture. More focus on life and less on work. Apple (though famous for long hours) is a good bet any day for someone who wants to have an impact. Good luck.
I have heard apple PM is more program oriented and box is more product oriented? (Btw are you also a pm)
No I am not. But I work plenty of PMs and barring a few most of them are below average. No prior PM experience but operating at Sr. / Staff level. Also think about future opportunities. Aaple (or any FAANG) on your resume opens up plenty of doors. Box is losing all the goodwill it has build. End of the day, you know the best. Good luck.
Is apple for an epm title?
Yea
Eng prod management. Any insight?
Box CEO is a huge apple fan. AAPL employees are big Box fans (from what I hear). So I feel like you could do AAPL --> BOX much easier than BOX --> AAPL, later on. Go do 2-3 years at AAPL, work hard, collect some stock, then come to Box to enjoy a more ideal tech culture. Or if culture is a priority, come to Box now.
Ideal tech culture at Box? Do you still work here?
Culture and Box? Are you sure? We have one of the most toxic culture - disorganized, siloed, highly political, mediocre decision makers, no trust outside of a specific eng team. No 401k. No refreshers. No bonuses. If you know how to please your manager, that’s the only way to grow financially and career wise. Two big pros Free lunch(not with remote now) You will never get fired for doing an average job. 💣
Definitely Apple if this is for AIML or AMP. Otherwise it'll be a PgM role. Also Level matters
Box is a dying business. Commodity storage with tons of competition
What team in Apple and I will advice :)
Also think about your management in each place, and potential career growth.
How is PM at apple? I heard it skews towards project/program management ?
Depends a lot on the org. Theres no overarching process/practices currently, although some are slowly being elevated from successful orgs promoting them
