Can someone explain the logic for the layoffs here? 343 was already understaffed…Bethesda has Starfield coming out soon. It doesn’t make sense to me that they would need to cut more people now.
Layoffs often don't make sense. Other companies often cut under staff teams as well
It’s frustrating
Unrelated but should I get a computer or Xbox to play Starfield? Long time elder scrolls fan but don’t really play video games anymore.
This is a personal preference thing. There are some who believe computer is always best…I personally will be playing on Xbox
343 was not understaffed, they were incredibly bloated. That said, in my opinion, "correcting over-hiring" should be fixing your process for future hires, not laying off a ton of people for your own mistake.
Prob need to save some money for the ATVI acquisition and I wouldn't be surprised if Microsoft shuts down Battle.net and puts all ATVI's games on Gamepass, Epic and Steam. That's probably 500+ jobs right there.
It's gaming industry. They're the forefathers of doing more for less.
Wasn’t the Microsoft acquisition supposed to improve this? The way they handled Halo was tragically disastrous
It still doesn’t make sense to me. This whole thing was handled so poorly
